The Power BI Women Meetupis a virtual gathering hosted by the Power BI Women group, providing a welcoming space for women to connect, share knowledge, and inspire one another within the Power BI community. It’s an opportunity to learn, collaborate, and celebrate the achievements of women in the Power BI industry.

About the Power BI Women Meetup Session:
Accessibility isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a critical aspect of designing inclusive reports that everyone can use. Creating reports that drive data insights can be tricky. While you, as a developer, may know Power BI inside out, your audience could, on the other hand, have varying levels of experience. Moreover, some users may even rely on accessibility tools, such as screen readers or keyboard navigation, to interact with reports. So, how can you ensure your reports are accessible to all?
Is it even possible to design with everyone in mind?
In this session, we’ll dive into practical techniques for creating accessible, insightful, and actionable data visualizations in Power BI. Topics include:
- Keyboard navigation & tab order: Ensure smooth navigation without a mouse.
- Screen readers & alt text: Make visualizations understandable for visually impaired users.
- High contrast: Improve readability for users with visual impairments.
- Focus Mode & Spotlight: Help users concentrate on key insights.
- Color ratio checks & themes: Ensure your visuals meet accessibility standards.
This session will feature practical examples and live demonstrations, showcasing how to create inclusive Power BI reports that cater to diverse user needs. By the end, attendees will gain the knowledge and skills needed to design reports that are not only accessible to all but also visually engaging and highly impactful.
